Kasperi Kilpi

Kasperi Kilpi started his career at NHG as a Senior Product Analyst in January 2023. He works with health and social services’ data solutions focusing on benchmarking products. He came across the Product Analyst position and NHG through his network on LinkedIn – and decided to apply. Kasperi got interested in the role and the company because of the possibility to combine his interests in improving the health and social care system and working with data analytics in a private sector company. Although he almost missed the deadline for applying, and needed to act fast, in the end, luckily, he got the position!

Before joining NHG, Kasperi was working as a project manager at HUS Helsinki University Hospital, in a strategic project focusing on modeling an AI algorithm for customer feedback. Before HUS, he was working for 10 years within first aid and emergency care (specializing in adult’s trauma and children’s emergency care), as he is a graduated registered and practical nurse. He also got a master’s degree in the global health program from the Uppsala University. In Sweden he worked both in children’s emergency care and at a rehabilitation clinic. Additionally, he has done voluntary work in Ukraine, Romania and in Greece.

”You should dare to look for possibilities also in unexpected places”, Kasperi says. ”The work experience gained as a nurse is valuable, and if you choose to leave the traditional clinic world, you realize how much you know and understand of the processes and treatment paths, and that is something that can be utilized outside the clinical world.” For Kasperi, the interests and dreams have always been in data analytics, combining it with the healthcare industry he knows well. ”NHG is therefore quite the optimal place for me to be working at”, he chuckles.

Kasperi began his career at NHG working with emergency care, cancer diseases and internal medicine benchmarking products, and later started also working with children’s diseases, neurosurgery and surgery benchmarking products. The idea of NHG’s benchmarking products is to support decision-making by comparing customers’ health and social care key metrics and approaches with peer organisations. This helps customers to better understand their practices’ strengths and weaknesses, and with the help of those insights improve their operations.

Kasperi’s work tasks include managing the emergency care product and working with more hands-on analyses and other tasks in the other products. He is actively in contact with customers, analyses and visualizes data with Excel, conducts interviews with healthcare experts and does desktop research to get qualitative data as well as a lot of problem-solving. In the emergency care product, he is also responsible for leading and supporting the team. Further, Kasperi has been involved in different internal process development projects and acts as a supervisor for Product Analysts.

Kasperi finds it rewarding and inspiring when the work becomes more concrete, especially when the numbers and data starts to tell a story. Also, the biannual benchmarking events are some of the most inspiring moments in his work. In these events the findings of the analyses are presented and customers, consisting of health and social care experts, have the chance to discuss emerging topics with each other.

“It feels rewarding when our customers meet each other and find it interesting that there are different ways of doing things and also that different ways of operating are reflected in the figures”, Kasperi states.

Kasperi also really enjoys all the internal events organized by NHG, for example the summer party at Suomenlinna in 2023 was an event to remember as he found it nice to hang out with all the colleagues in a more relaxed setting – without forgetting the matching outfits for the city orienteering together with the team, which was a fun addition.

Balancing the worklife with sports, friends, and family is important for Kasperi, and he finds it easy to do so at NHG. Overall, the good and fresh environment at NHG is something that he enjoys.

“At NHG the hierarchy feels low, the vibe is very youthful and open and even for a new joiner it is easy to talk openly about things, as all opinions and ideas are respected and welcomed. These are some reasons why I’ve enjoyed working at NHG – in addition to the optimal role of course”, Kasperi concludes.
