Are we treating what matters? Rethinking oral health for older adults in the Nordics

Nordics’ population is aging – and so are their teeth. Older adults (aged 65+) constitute the fastest growing patient group for dental care providers. Yet we’re not treating what matters most. For example, according to NHG’s Clarity Dental analysis, periodontal issues affect over 60-80% of older adult patients in Finnish dental care providers, yet treatment remains underprioritized with 20% of resources allocated to periodontal treatment. We’re not facing a clinical challenge here — we’re facing a leadership one.
